In the
Secret Palace hidden deep in Magic Thorn Wood,
Princess Beauty was sleeping.
Under the 100 year spell of the wicked Fairy
Nightshade and the poisoned spinning wheel, she awaited
the handsome Prince who alone could revive
her.
There was a double dose of comedy
as crazy servants Bubble and Squeak noticed Mop and
Brushup, those argumentative palace maids from a bygone
century.
A
shaggy four legged Sir Lancelot added horseplay
and Queen Maria made a not very majestic
but highly amusing Pantomime Dame.
You met also the
bumbling Wizard Wombosa,
King Wimple, Queen
Grandilla,
Nurse
Cecilia
and a full supporting cast and chorus
of
fairies, ghosts, elves and animals.
With Sleeping Beauty, Broxbourne
Theatre Company presented the next in a 60 year
series of colourful and spectacular pantomimes.
Well
over a hundred thousand panto tickets had been sold
since ETCEA moved its shows to Broxbourne Civic Hall
more than 25 years
earlier
and with top prices at most other
nearby
pantomimes around 50% higher, you were
also assured of best value for miles
around.
